Right to be absent on a public holiday - Queensland Health

Annual leave is now exclusive of public holidays. Since the commencement of EB11 nurses and midwives employed by Queensland Health (QH) can no longer have annual leave deducted on public holidays. This brings them into line with most other occupations in the public and private sector. However, this does not mean you cannot arrange to have certain public holidays off if you need or want to have them off. The QNMU and Queensland Health collaborated on a document called: Work arrangements for nursing and midwifery staff on public holidays (the Guide). The Queensland Health Guide is an agreed document you can use to support you in public holiday leave discussions with your line manager if needed.
