RNs and medication management in aged care

Every Registered Nurse (RN) working in aged care is responsible for ensuring the management of medicines complies with professional standards, relevant legislation and regulations, including organisational policies and procedures. AINS/Carers can be asked to assist with medicines ONLY when the aged care recipient is competent to self-administer their medicines. Only the resident (not their alternative decision maker) can request assistance with medications.
