Starting out as a nurse or midwife can be both exciting and
overwhelming.
The transition from student to professional brings new responsibilities,
challenges, and opportunities – and it’s important to know you don’t have to
navigate it alone.
QNMU’s New Graduate Day is designed especially for members in their first year
of practice.
Around 2–3 months into your new role, you’ll join other early career
nurses and midwives at the QNMU office for a full day of connection, learning,
and discovery.
You’ll meet the different teams who work behind the scenes to support you
and gain a clear understanding of the services and benefits available to you as
a member.
This day is also about building networks.
You’ll connect with other grads who are going through the same
transition, share experiences, and learn strategies to help you thrive both
professionally and personally in your first year.
By the end of this program, participants will:
·
understand
the role of the QNMU and the services available to support them
·
meet
and engage with key QNMU teams, including industrial, professional, and legal
staff
·
learn
how to access advice, resources, and representation when needed
·
build
confidence in navigating their rights and responsibilities as new professionals
·
connect
with other new graduates and strengthen peer support networks.
This event is open to new graduate QNMU members and provides 6 CPD
hours.
As a specialist education session delivered by the peak professional and industrial body for nurses and midwives in Queensland, this course meets the requirements for Industrial Relations Education Leave (IREL).
